The picture that Ree portrays of herself is appalling - I'm surprised her PR people did not preview the book and edit out the bad parts.
Ree portrays herself as a good person on her blog but in Black Heels and Tractor Wheels, she's completely selfish, narcissistic, self absorbed, and patronizing.
Page 3: "...ordered a $495 wool gabardine winter coat..." Who tells people how much their clothes are? She could have just written that she had ordered a wool coat. But she felt the need to tell us how much it cost? Why? To show how rich she is.
page 3: "...my hometown...picturesque and affluent, it wasn't exactly the kind of town that required getting dressed to the nines to go out for wine."
page 7: "...my 300-thread-count faded peach sheets."
page 8: "Eighteen months my senior, he had nothing better to do. His developmental disabilities allowed him to be perfectly content patting my head, telling me how pretty I was,..." In the past Ree would call her brother, Mike, retarded. She has since become politically correct and all references to retard have been removed from The Pioneer Woman.
page 24: Ree's California boyfriend "J" phones to tell her that he is coming out there. "I'm coming there tomorrow,"...instead of being home, Ree hightails it over to Marlboro Man's house and avoids the fact that J flew thousands of miles and is waiting to be picked up at the airport.
I could go on and on but you get the gist.
Will fans of Pioneer Woman see the real Ree or will they continue to see the Lucille Ballesque character she has created for herself. Help me Rhonda...
I wonder what anyone else thought...
