Last week while sitting at my desk my left foot started hurting - almost like a deep bruise on the top of my foot. The next day while at Zumba it hurt to put pressure on that foot. Then it became uncomfortable wearing flip-flops.
I hadn't dropped anything on my foot, no one had stepped on it. There wasn't a bruise, it might have been slightly swollen but otherwise it appeared normal.
Then this week it hurt to walk. And just the slight pressure of my sheets resting on my toes while in bed hurt. Naturally the first thing I did was to research "pain on the top of the foot" on the internet. Of course, I mean, afterall, Google, is where we all go to find out anything. Duh.
Google tells me it could be a few different things such as plantar fasciitis or a stress fracture. One of the remedies for plantar fasciitis is to roll a tennis ball around under your foot. So I got one of Beekers tennis balls, one that he had not yet been given since I didn't want dog slobber all over the bottom of my foot, and started rolling the ball around.
Not good. This did not help at all and my foot felt like it was on fire after. Ok, so I'm thinking maybe stress fracture. But I don't run so it seems a bit strange and it's not like I'm doing ballet or anything. I call the doctor, have to wait a few days to get in, and after X-Rays, yep, it's a stress fracture.
So I have a stress fracture in my third toe, otherwise known as the Little Piggy Goes to Market toe. Which means I get to miss Zumba and all other forms of exercise for the next two weeks. Not to mention having to tape my toes together and get one of those so attractive ankle boot. Yeah, hello summer.
