“Flugtag PDX” by Megan Smith

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict June 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict June 2011 Monthly Kit Option, 18 photos (one 6”x5”, two 6”x4”, three 4”x2”, twelve 2”x2”), Two sheets white cardstock, Black slick writer, Black journaling pen, Border punch and Various adhesives.
2. Use the two sheets of white cardstock as your base and tape the center margin together to help secure the two sides of your layout together.
3. Cut two pieces of the green grid paper to 12”x 2¾” and punch a decorative border along one of the 12” sides of each piece. Adhere these pieces of paper, decorative border side up, along the top of your layout, about 1-5/8” from the top edge of your layout.
4. Adhere the 6”x5” photo flush against the left side of your layout and 4” from the bottom edge of your layout. Adhere the two 6”x4” photos directly to the right of this photo in a line so the bottom edges of the photos are all in line with each other.
5. Cut two pieces of the blue motorcycle paper to 12” x 1¾”. Adhere these pieces of paper along the bottom of your layout, about 1” from the bottom edge of your layout.
6. Cut two pieces of the zig-zag paper to 12”x 1¾” and then fussy cut a zig-zag edge on one of the 12” sides of each piece. Adhere these pieces of paper, zig-zag side down, flush along the bottom edge of your photos and overlapping the blue motorcycle paper.
7. Arrange the three 4”x2” and twelve 2”x2” photos in a 3x6 grid fashion in a vertical line down the right side of your layout and adhere. Define the lines between the edges of all your photos using the black slick writer.
8. Add your title to the wide section of the green grid paper using the chipboard alphas. If you use some of the outline letters, back them first with some coordinating scrap paper from the kit.
9. Add your journaling to a tag using your journaling pen.
10. Create two different embellishment clusters on your layout – one above the 6”x5” photo and one below the 6”x4” photo on the right-hand side of your layout. Use designs and sentiments cut from the Motor-cross paper, the acrylic gears with brads, the tags and chipboard frames to create these clusters. Use foam adhesives on some of the embellishments for added dimension. Add your journaled tag to the cluster on the right-hand side of your page.
11. Add the Heidi Swapp rubons to various photos throughout your layout for added embellishments.

Banner Challenge

This weeks challenge is to create a banner on your layout. For this layout, I just cut some of the circles in half that are in the June Crop Addict Kit

“Rose Garden” by Megan Smith

 

1.  Gather your supplies: Crop Addict May 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict May 2011 Monthly Kit Option, 13 photos (three 4”x6”, one 6”x4”, one 4”x4” and eight 2”x2”), two sheets white cardstock, light blue embroidery floss, black pigment ink, black slick writer, date stamp, border punch and various adhesives.
2. Tape the two sheets of white cardstock together along the back edge of the center margin to create your layout base.
3. Cut two 2” x 12” strips from the yellow gingham patterned paper. Punch a border along one long edge of each strip. Trim down each strip so it’s 1½” wide. Adhere these strips along the bottom of your layout, ½” from the bottom edge, to create a border.
4. Create your grid of paper and photos on the right side of your layout as follows. Trim a piece of the white with black polka dot paper to 4”x2” and adhere in the top right corner of your layout. Adhere four of the 2”x2” photos in a 2x2 square grid below the polka dot paper. Adhere one of your 4”x6” photos directly to the left of the polka dot paper and smaller square photos. Trim a piece of the vintage striped paper to 4” x 6” and adhere it directly to the left of your 4”x6” photo. Adhere another 4”x6” photo directly below the vintage striped paper. Adhere the 6”x4” photo directly to the right and directly below the two 4”x6” photos. Trim a piece of the small flowered patterned paper to 2”x4” and adhere to the right of the 6”x4” photo.
5. Add a piece of fabric trim along the top of the right page’s yellow border, adding a tied knot near the left end.
6. Adhere three of the small rosebuds near the lower right corner of your 4”x6” photo.
7. Add a sentiment sticker to the lower left corner of the white with black polka dot paper.
8. Adhere a piece of trim running horizontally across the top of the vintage striped piece of paper. Add a sheer journaling spot to this piece of paper so it slightly overlaps your photo as well.  Add your journaling using a slick writer. Adhere one large and one small rosebud near the upper left of your journaling spot.
9. Create your grid of paper and photos on the left side of your layout as follows. Trim a piece of the green flourish paper to 4”x2” and adhere in the top right corner of the left page. Adhere the 4”x4” photo directly below the green flourish paper. Adhere the last of your 4”x6” photos directly to the left of the green flourish paper and the 4”x4” photo. Trim a piece of the larger rose patterned paper to 4” x 4” and adhere it directly below your 4”x6” photo. Adhere the remaining four 2”x2” photos in a 2x2 square grid to the right of the large rose patterned paper and below the 4”x4” photo. Trim a semi circle piece from the round die-cut paper so it has a radius of about 3” and adhere it vertically along the left edge of the layout so the straight edge is flush against the photo and rose patterned paper.
10. Add a piece of fabric trim along the straight edge of you semi circle, tying a knot near the lower end, to create a vertical border along the left side of your layout.
11. Add your title vertically to the semi circle using the puffy alphas.
12. Adhere one green flower and one large rosebud to the piece of large rose patterned paper. Cover a chipboard button with the ledger-patterned paper and thread with blue embroidery floss. Adhere to the center of the green flower.
13. Use the black ink and date stamp to add your date to the piece of green flourish paper.

 

“Little Girls Are A Gift” by Megan Smith

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict May 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict May 2011 Monthly Kit Option, one 5”x7” photo, white cardstock, extra-large pink & beige eyelets, white embroidery floss, brown chalk ink & pigment ink, thin-tipped brown marker, date stamp, corner rounder punch, scalloped border punch and various adhesives. 

2. Use the blue cardstock as your base. 

3. Trim the paisley flowered paper to 11½” x 11½” and punch a scalloped border along one edge. Adhere the paper to the center of the cardstock so the scalloped edge runs along the right-hand side. 

4. Trim the pink circle patterned paper to 9¼” x 7¼”. Punch a scalloped border along the left and top edges. Adhere to your page so it’s 1¼” from the left edge and 1½” from the top edge of your layout. 

5. Trim the brown grid patterned paper to 5½” x 8¼”. Punch a scalloped border along the bottom edge. Adhere to your page so it’s ¾” from the right edge and 2-3/8” from the top edge of your layout. 

6. Use your corner rounder punch to round the edges of your photo. Trim the pink cardstock to 7 ½” x 5 ½” and adhere your photo to the center of the cardstock. Ink the edges of the cardstock with brown chalk ink. Take the frame cardstock sticker and place it over the center of your photo creating a second frame around the focal point in your photo. Adhere one of the brown pockets to the back of the photo mat so it sticks out from the left edge of the photo. Adhere your matted photo with attached pocket to your layout so its 3” from the top edge and 1½” from the right edge of your layout. 

7. Trim a piece of white cardstock to 4½” x 3¼”. Wrap a border sticker along the left edge of the cardstock. Add journaling lines and journaling to this card and place in the pocket. 

8. Add eight eyelets (alternating colors) along the right edge of the brown paper so they are evenly spaced in a vertical line. Lace one of the fabric strands through the eyelets ending with a bow tied near the upper end of the line. 

9. Add one of the pink felt word sentiments to the upper right corner of the pink paper. 

10. Adhere the chipboard sentiment over the upper left corner of your photo. 

11. Adhere one of the green flowers near the lower left corner of the brown paper. Ink up one of the chipboard buttons with the brown chalk ink and thread it with white embroidery floss. Adhere it to the center of the flower. Use the brown pigment ink and date stamp to add the date to one of the flower petals. 

12. Adhere the chipboard flower to the right of the green flower. Use the tiny alphas to add your subtitle to the right of the chipboard flower.

Girls just want to have fun - Sophia Allison

1. Used the ledger paper for my background.

2. Used the green dotted paper cut down to 12 x 6.5 inches for a border stip across the page and used my border punch o the bottom of it.

3. Cut out a strip from the wavy pattern paper and adhered that in the centre of the green dot paper border.

4. Added 4 (3.5 x 2.5) portrait photos at an angle on the top middle of the dotted green paper and tucked under the wavy strip.

5. Added a sticky border strip to the top of the background page.

6. Added some sticker embellies and Maya Road sheers to the bottom right-hand of project. Cut my green flowers into butterflies and added the chipboard buttons as centre to them. Finished it off with Stickles.

7. Used the rub-on alphas for my title.

8. Voila, project is done.

You & Me Forever - Sophia Allison

1. Used cardstock for my background page.

 
2. Cut my some pattern paper 6.5 by 8.5 inches for my background where the photos will go. 

3. Took to photos 4 x 3 inches landscape above each other and matted it on the red cardstock, then the light pink cardstock, creating a double mat. Placed more or less to the left side of my pattern background I cut above in step 2. 

4. 3 co-ordinating pattern paper strips 10 x 1 inches behind the larger pattern paper with photos on. Used my stapler on each end of the border strips. 

5. Fussy cut some flowers out of the larger floral paper and added them to each corner as per above image. Added some bling pearls to the centre of the flowers for dimension. 

6. Added a Maya Road clear tag near the paper strips on the left. 

7. Added the alphas for my title and outlined them with a black pen and added some flowers and words to finish it off. 

8. Your project is complete.

Pigtails Sweetie Layout This is a picture of my daughter who will turn 15 in November!!! Love this picture because it truly shows her personality and all that sass she has!!!  I am truly enjoying scrapping pics from years ago!!!

1. Use the 12X12 red shade of bazzill in your kit and spritz with some glimmer mist.

2. Distress the edges of your cardstock and add some dark brown colorbox chalk ink to it.

3. I cropped my picture at 4 X 5 3/4". Finally, I cut Allie 3 1/2 X 10 1/4."

Then used Emma from Paper Doll collection in the May Crop Addict kit and cut it to 4 3/4 X 6 1/2." 

Next, I cut Ashley from Paper Doll collection in Crop Addict's May kit 5 1/4 X 8 3/4". 

Finally, I cut Allie from Paper Doll collection in the May Crop Addict Kit 3 1/2 X 10 1/4."

 4. I laid the scallop sticker from the Paper doll journal stickers down on the side of the paper and then layered each piece of cut pattern paper on top.  See picture for details.

I zigzag stitched along the outside edge of the scallop sticker and the Allie pattern paper.

5. Then I embellished the page with several chipboard embellishments.  I inked the edges with my dark brown colorbox chalk ink pad.

(You get 1 sheet of these in the kit option! I had so much fun with mine!)

6. I added the pigtail sticker to my journaling spot from Maya Road.

(These come in different colors in the kit.  I think white or pink.  Mine were pink!)

There you have it! Very simple and fun!

Cute Little Cousins

This is another picture of Kati, but much more recent. 

Just realized they both have to deal with her hair (LOL!)

1. I created my pictures on Picasa and used the collage with the polaroid settings. 

I just messed around with it until I found something I liked.

2. I sewed a straight stitch around the outside edge of the Paisley Girls Paperie pattern paper and then every once in awhile turned my stitch to zigzag.

2. I laid the My Little Shoebox Imagine a Forest Fresh Air diecut on the paper and then cut off what I didn't want with scissors.  It was easy to do because of the lines that are on it. 

3. Then I added the border sticker on the edge and used a strip of  Katie pattern paper.  I used my EK Success spiral punch along the edge of it and then tucked it under the edge of the sticker.

For placement of the pictures refer to my page.  Next I added journaling stickers and some chipboard stickers.

4. I tucked the Bazzill library pocket under the edge of the die cut paper,

added a sticker and a Maya Road journaling sheer. 

5. Then I placed the sparkle chipboard dress hanger on it and added the Making Memories puffy alphabet stickers.  I also placed the word cute above the alphabet stickers to give it more dimension.

Didn't I tell you this kit was all about the girls? It's just great!!!

Weekly Challenge 5/30/11 - 6/6/11

This week's challenge is to create a greeting card. The only requirement is that the card has to have one homemade embellishment on it.

Here's my example. I created this card using leftovers from the Crop Addict May 2011 Kit and I created the pleated flower from scratch (see my step by step instructions here). 

{Nap Time} by Monique Liedtke

 Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you how I created this layout "Nap Time", using the fabulous May Kit  from Crop Addict, called "Thank Heaven for Little Girls"!!!

Gather your supplies: Crop Addict May 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict May 2011 Monthly Kit Option, two 3.5”x5” vertical photos (color), twine, sheet of music paper (3”x4”), a few flowers, the butterfly die cut sheet from your Crop Addict April kit, spray ink, butterfly punch, 2 border punches, stamping ink to ink some of the edges, journaling pen, trimmer, scissors, foamdots, stapler.

Take the light dotted sheet of patterned paper (Crate Paper), put the butterfly die cut sheet (back side up) on top of and spray ink. Then take your border punch and punch around the entire page. Adhere to the pink cardstock sheet.

Cut three strips (1.5”x10.75”) of paper (Crate Paper) all with a different design and use a border punch to punch along one of the edges. Ink the edges and adhere to your page, one a bit overlapping the other.

Adhere a photo matt to your centre photo and arrange your two photos and the piece of music paper above (a bit on) these 3 strips of paper. Use your journaling pen to draw a “faux stitched line” around these.

Choose one of the “Crate Paper Sparkle Chips” and add to the sheet of music paper (using a foam dot) and add a flower. Add the title under the centre photo and add a flower as well. Add a piece of twine “in loops” over the strips of paper and title. Adhere with stapler.

 

Stick some stickers from your Crate sticker sheet in the left top corner of your page and add flower. Add some handwritten journaling in one of the stickers.

Punch two large butterflies (ink edges) and adhere to the right top corner of your page. Draw the "feelers".
