“Fireworks” by Megan Smith

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict July 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict July 2011 Monthly Kit Option, four photos (one 4”x6”, one 3”x6”, one 3”x3”, one 1¾” x 1¾”), a thin-tipped orange marker, date stamp, black StazOn ink and various adhesives.
2. Use the yellow cardstock as your base. Use the orange thin-tipped marker to draw a thin border around the edge of your layout, approximately ¼” in from the edge.
3. Adhere your photos in a grid fashion starting with the 4”x6” photo so it’s 2½” from the bottom edge of your layout and 1½” from the left edge of your layout. Then, adhere the 3”x6” photo directly to the right of the first photo.  Then, adhere the 3”x3” photo directly to the right of that photo and in line with its bottom edge. Next, adhere the small black frame to the smallest square photo and adhere it above the 3”x3” square photo so the frame edges are flush against the other two photos.
4. Add the “Boom” sticker to the bottom of the frame.
5. Add three strips to the bottom of your layout – one that’s the blue paper, one with the decorative grid tape and one with the navy blue border strip. They should all be varying lengths to add visual interest and one should touch the right edge of your layout.
6. Choose five fireworks stickers and adhere them to the blue paper. Fussy-cut them out. Adhere two near the upper left of your photo grid, one overlapping the upper right corner of your frame and two near the lower left center of your layout overlapping the decorative tape. Use dimensional adhesive on three of the fireworks for added visual interest.
7. Use the alpha stickers to add your title above the photos.
8. Take the small blue rectangle label and add your date to it using the date stamp and StazOn ink. Adhere in the lower right corner of your layout over the decorative grid tape.
9. Embellish your fireworks with yellow and orange eyelets and blue mini-brads.

“Smiles” by Megan Smith

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict July 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict July 2011 Monthly Kit Option, one 4”x6” photo, extra sheet of cardstock in any color, four border punches, a black journaling pen, circle cutter and various adhesives (including dimensional adhesive).
2. Adhere the patterned paper with the bike to the spare piece of cardstock for extra support. This is your base.
3. Cut a piece of the brown with blue polka dot paper to 11”x1½”.  Cut a piece of the green on green circle patterned paper to 6 ¾”x 1½”. Use your circle cutter to cut a 4¾” diameter circle from the blue paper.
4. Take the three just-cut pieces of paper and one of the border die-cuts and layer them in the center of your layout, taking care not to cover the bike or polka dots on the background paper.
5. Adhere your photo over these layers.
6. Take four different My Minds Eye Papers and punch a different border strip from each one, each strip being about ¼” wide. Add one border strip to each side of the photo, trimming the overhanging edges to create a frame around your photo.
7. Embellish the upper left corner of the photo with a die-cut and title block. Use dimensional adhesive on the title block and add two red clips to it for extra detail.
8. Embellish the lower right corner of the photo with three die-cuts using dimension adhesive on at least one of the die-cuts.
9. For added detail, glue several of the metal rings to the polka dots on the background paper.
10. Add your photo caption to your layout using the black journaling pen.

July How-to's!

This was such a quick and easy card to put together using the July Kit from Crop Addict. 

I just LOVED the end result.

1. Paint star chipboard with blue acrylic paint and set aside to dry.

2.  Place sticker strips on white 51/2 X41/4" cardstock.

3.  Place small Adorn It Let Freedom Ring letters on card.

4. Attach star with pop up dots and place tissue paper flower inside with red sticker dot.

5.  I also put 3 dots on after Let Freedom Ring with my fine point Sharpie marker.

This is the day Jeremy became a Boy Scout.  He and his pack worked so hard to complete the requirements they needed to become a Boy Scout.  I know Daddy worked hard too as their leader. 

All supplies except for the compass stamp, the Smooch Spritz and the ink pad 

are from the July Crop Addict Kit .

1. Prepare your cardstock by misting on the Tattered Angels compass stamp.  I used Smooch Spritz log cabin.  Cut 11 X11.  Mount on Abby Road My Mind's Eye pattern paper and sew around the outside edge.  

2. Distress with Charcoal Colorbox ink pad.

3.  Cut out scallop from Cricut cartridge.

4. Cut My Mind's Eye pattern paper to 41/2".  Attach to layout and distress with Charcoal Chalk box ink pad.

5. Doodle around the outside edge between sewing and edge of cs/pattern paper.

6.  Place scallop on edge of cs and pattern paper.  Sew down using straight stitch.

7.  Attach embellies(pattern strips of paper, quote and circles).  I popdotted the circles to give a little more pizzazz.

8.  Sew around the edge of the pictures.

9.  Attach letters.(these were from my stash)

Hit the Road Card by Lisa Spiegel

1) Cut base of card from "Nice Ride" paper- 6 x 6

2) Trim Beep Beep transparency to 3 1/2 x 6 and adhere with glue dots to the top of the card

3) Trim 2 x 6 piece of "Watch Out" Paper.

4) Tie a little bow (from ribbon card around the right side of the paper then adhere to the card as shown

5) Add Hit the Road title from Carolee's Mini Alpha

6) Add 3 red epoxy circles to bottom left as shown and you're done!

 

Summer Girls by Lisa Spiegel

1) Use Brothers paper as 12 x 12 base to layout.

2) Trim Best Buddies to 11 1/2 x 11 1/2.

3) Begin Layering elements of layout:

    a) Heidi Swapp Frame

    b) Two Metal Photo Corners

    c) Die Cut flags and circles

    d) Photo

4) Create 3 flowers with 4 layers of tissue paper and an eyelet for the middle to hold them together.

5) Punch or free hand leaves from the green cardstock.

6) Add title from Making Memories stickers and small Carolee's Alpha.

7) Using a pencil to mark, decide where to set eyelets.

8) Set eyelets.

9) Adhere top page to layout base.

10) Journal around the edge of the layout and you're done!

 

July 2011 Monthly Challenge

For July, Crop Addict's monthly challenge is all about Freedom.  Freedom to express your self and to push yourself to the limit.

This month, we want to see how many layouts you can create using just 11 - 12 sheets of patterned paper, basically any Crop Addict monthly scrapbook kit.  

The winner will receive a $41 - $50 Crop Addict store gift certificate.  Value of the gift certificate will be based on the cost of kit purchased by the winner.

You can participate without purchasing a Crop Addict kit and using any 11 - 12 sheets of patterned paper.  A prize pack will be awarded to the winner who does not purchase a Crop Addict kit.

Weekly Challenge 6/28-7/2 and Totally Technique

I am so excited!!!! For my last challenge at Crop Addict as the Featured Designer of the month, I contacted Jaime Warren...my Scrap Idol...to ask her if it was OK to use the layout below to scraplift. Her layouts always inspire me with all the extra little goodies she adds and looks so effortless.   And I just love the photos she takes of her kids.  Maybe someday I will be able to do something close to what she does!!! She quickly emailed me back and told me that she would LOVE for us to use it!

So, I got to work on mine! Hoping that I would come close to creating something as wonderful as she did! With everything going on in my life right now I decided to create a page of me...which I never do!

Today marks the first day of summer, so this week's challenge is to create a summer layout. Here's mine that I created with the June Crop Addict Kit.

“First Days With Daddy” by Megan Smith

1. Crop Addict June 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict June 2011 Monthly Kit Option, two 4”x4” photos, Brown chalk ink, Blue & clear Stickles, Circle cutters, Spare piece of cardstock (for backing) and Various adhesives.
2. Use the spare piece of cardstock as your base and adhere the Father Words patterned paper to it to create your background.
3. Adhere the round die-cut My Little Shoebox patterned paper in the lower right corner of your layout and overlapping the right and bottom edges. Trim off the overlapping pieces of the paper.
4. Adhere your two photos at two different angles and overlapping each other within the circle of patterned paper, leaving enough room for your title.
5. Then add your title to the circle of patterned paper using the cardstock alpha stickers.
6. Use your circle cutters, scraps of paper, large enameled brads and chalk ink to create three lollipop flowers. If you need a tutorial on making them, follow this one. Add the three lollipop flowers to your layout near the photos and title.
7. Use the green fiber and twist it into circles and adhere underneath the lollipop flowers to create leaves.
8. Add a felt heart sticker near one of the photos.
9. Add a finished chipboard sentiment to your layout like I did in the lower left corner.
10. Enhance the dotted scalloped border of the die-cut paper with dots of blue and clear stickles.

“Flugtag PDX” by Megan Smith

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict June 2011 Monthly Kit, Crop Addict June 2011 Monthly Kit Option, 18 photos (one 6”x5”, two 6”x4”, three 4”x2”, twelve 2”x2”), Two sheets white cardstock, Black slick writer, Black journaling pen, Border punch and Various adhesives.
2. Use the two sheets of white cardstock as your base and tape the center margin together to help secure the two sides of your layout together.
3. Cut two pieces of the green grid paper to 12”x 2¾” and punch a decorative border along one of the 12” sides of each piece. Adhere these pieces of paper, decorative border side up, along the top of your layout, about 1-5/8” from the top edge of your layout.
4. Adhere the 6”x5” photo flush against the left side of your layout and 4” from the bottom edge of your layout. Adhere the two 6”x4” photos directly to the right of this photo in a line so the bottom edges of the photos are all in line with each other.
5. Cut two pieces of the blue motorcycle paper to 12” x 1¾”. Adhere these pieces of paper along the bottom of your layout, about 1” from the bottom edge of your layout.
6. Cut two pieces of the zig-zag paper to 12”x 1¾” and then fussy cut a zig-zag edge on one of the 12” sides of each piece. Adhere these pieces of paper, zig-zag side down, flush along the bottom edge of your photos and overlapping the blue motorcycle paper.
7. Arrange the three 4”x2” and twelve 2”x2” photos in a 3x6 grid fashion in a vertical line down the right side of your layout and adhere. Define the lines between the edges of all your photos using the black slick writer.
8. Add your title to the wide section of the green grid paper using the chipboard alphas. If you use some of the outline letters, back them first with some coordinating scrap paper from the kit.
9. Add your journaling to a tag using your journaling pen.
10. Create two different embellishment clusters on your layout – one above the 6”x5” photo and one below the 6”x4” photo on the right-hand side of your layout. Use designs and sentiments cut from the Motor-cross paper, the acrylic gears with brads, the tags and chipboard frames to create these clusters. Use foam adhesives on some of the embellishments for added dimension. Add your journaled tag to the cluster on the right-hand side of your page.
11. Add the Heidi Swapp rubons to various photos throughout your layout for added embellishments.
