November 22nd - 29th Weekly Challenge

My challenge this week, in honour of Thanksgiving, is to scrapbook something you are thankful for. In Canada, Thanksgiving was last month, but I saved this just for my American pals :)

"Giving Thanks" by Amanda Winchester

1. Gather your supples: November Crop Addict kit, embroidery floss and needle, black journaling pen, buttons, stickles, label maker. 
2. Use the light brown patterned paper with the circles as a background. 
3. Cut red cardstock to 8.5x11. 
4. Cut striped paper to 8x10.5 and adhere to cardstock. Handstitch around the perimeter. 
5. Cut green , leaf patterned paper to 6.5x8. Adhere to the bottom of the striped paper. 
6. Attach picture to the bottom of the green paper. 
7. Use black letters and label maker to create title. I staggered the black letters so that some sit on top of others. 
8. Staple a couple of pieces of ribbon to the top left corner of the 8.5x11 'layout'. Then attach the entire thing to the background paper. 
9. Cut three trees from the tree patterned paper. Mat these on brown cardstock. Embellish trees with gems, buttons, stickles. Attach trees to the bottom right corner. 
10. Add journaling on strips to the top right corner of the layout.

"Thank You Card" by Amanda Winchester

1. Gather supplies: November Crop Addict kit, corrugated cardboard, twill, stapler, button, thank you rubon. 
2. Cut brown cardstock to 8.5x5.5 and fold in half to form card. 
3. Cut striped paper to 5.25x4 and adhere to the front of the card. 
4. Cut green patterned paper to 1.5x3.75 and adhere just below the middle of the card. 
5. Cut a tree from the tree patterned paper. Add a button to the centre. Attach to a piece of corrugated cardboard a bit larger than the tree. 
6. Tie a piece of twill around the cardboard. 
7. Staple the cardboard piece to the card. 
8. Rub on sentiment to the beige cardstock. Cut out and mat on dark brown cardstock and adhere to the bottom right corner of the card.

What I Like by Audrey Yeager

1. Cut out eight 2” square from various patterned papers.
2. Using the yellow paper with the measuring lines, cut out three 2” squares with no pattern on them.  Use different stamps and stamp a design on each of these squares. (mine are the first row, square 3, and the third row, squares 2 and 4)
3. Measure out a 4x4 grid on your page, leaving about 1/4” in between each square for stitching.  Machine stitch the lines.
4.  Cut a 2” square from scrap paper to use as a template to paint around.  Use this template and paint a thin line in yellow paint for the squares in the first row, 2^nd square, third row, first square, and fourth row, 3^rd square.  NOTE: you do not see the 3^rd squares in rows 2 and 3, but it you want to paint a square there, too, you can.) 
5. Add your patterned paper to the remaining squares.
6. Use an orange and gold mist to spray the flowers.  Outline the embossed areas with an orange pen.  Layer some flowers and secure with a brad.
7. Mat your photo on a brown piece of cardstock and adhere to page at an angle.  Add flowers and stickers for journaling.

Finger Foods by Audrey Yeager

 

1. Cut the polka dot paper to 11x11”.  Mount on light green cardstock and zig zag stitch around the edges.
2. Cut a 2.5” x 10” piece from the measuring paper being sure to see the lines and possibly the numbers.  Adhere vertically to the right side of the page about 1” from the right edge.
3. Cut out the white with brown polka dot strip from the patterned paper and leave the green scalloped border.  Adhere horizontally across the center of your page.
4. Cut 2 brown scalloped strips and 2 pink scalloped strips from the paper (all 12” long).  Layer the pink and brown strips above and below the center strip on your page.
5. Cut a 12” strip from the light blue paper with scallops on the top and bottom.  Strip is about 1” side.  Pleat the strip and adhere over center strip, flush with right side of page. 
6. Pleat and adhere the green and brown ribbon over the top of the blue strip.
7. Add two vertical 3.5x5” photos, and one horizontal photo.
8. In the top left corner, use some white paint and “paint” with your fingers to create a background for your title.  Add stickers for title.
9. Add some brads to the page and journaling around the outside.  I also cut some of the phrases from the baking paper and stuck the strips on my lower left photo.

 
 

*Two Handsome Men* Crop Addict November 2010 Kit

 
 

All supplies are from the Crop Addict November Kit

1. Choose your background paper.

2. Matt your photos.  Then choose a patterened paper and put the photos on that, making a layering affect.  I used the Dream Street papers.

3. Then I added some flowers.  To create those, I cut out flowers from the Dream Street paper and layered them with the Bazzill flower, metal flowers, square snaps and eyelets, all found in the kit.  I also used pop dots to give them dimension.

3.  I added the title along side the pictures.  The orange letters are Pink Paislee and I cut "Handsome out using my Silhouette.

4. Then I added the journaling strips.

This one was pretty simple and quick to do!

November kit "Owl always love you" by Monique Liedtke

 

1. Gather your supplies: November Crop Addict Monthly Kit and November 2010 Crop Addict Monthly Kit Option, one vertical 3.5”x 5.5” color photo, one horizontal 2¼ ”x 3¼ ” color photo and one vertical 2.5“ x 3.5”, a brown and a white journaling pen, an orange Posca pen, some buttons and thread, brown and green ink (cat’s eye), shape tools from Epiphany Crafts and adhesives (including foam adhesive).

2. Use the brown Bazzill paper as your base and draw a line along the edge with your white journaling pen.

3. Cut a 2” x 10” strip from your striped Bella Blvd paper called “Lineage”, ink the edges and adhere to cardstock 2” from the bottom in the middle.

4. Cut a 1¼ “ x 8.5” strip from the green Bella Blvd paper called “Growing Up” and adhere to the striped strip slightly below the middle.

5. Cut a 0.75” x 8” strip from the brown Bella Blvd paper called “Heritage” and adhere to the green Bella Blvd strip right in the middle and add date sticker to the left side of the strip.

6. Cut a 4.5” x 6 ¼ “ piece of paper from your Bella Blvd paper called “Family Circle” and ink the edges. Adhere the large photo to this piece of paper slightly left bottom and place on your brown cardstock in the centre of the page and a bit on top of the striped strip of paper. Add coaster label above photo (right side) and add button using foam adhesive.

7. Adhere the two smaller photos to your cardstock both to the right of the large photo. One a bit lower and the other a bit higher than the large photo.

8. Add title between the two smaller photo, using the backside of the letters in order to be able to color them (in my case light green). Draw some lines around the edges of the letters and add button with foam adhesive (I used my Epiphany Crafts button shape tool to create my own button).

 
9. Create subtitle on the right side of the lowest small photo using the Pink Paislee alphabet stickers.

10. Paper piece an owl using leftover brown cardstock and scraps from the Bella Blvd papers “Growing Up” (wings, eyes and beak) and “Family Tree” (tummy). For the pupils of the eyes I used Bella Blvd “Heritage” and an EC shape tool. Adhere the owl (or any other animal) to the left of the large photo slightly covering the photo.

 
11. Add handwritten journaling above the owl using i.e. a Posca pen.
