September 27th - October 4th Weekly Challenge

The challenge I have for you this week is: create a layout or a card with a "special" title, i.e. like the title I created for my card:

 
  
For the title I used the rubons from the September 2010 Monthly Scrapbook Option and rubed them on some buttons!

Love the result!!

The papers are from Dream Street and again from my September 2010 Monthly Scrapbook Kit!!

September Kit Project by Guiseppa Gubler *Addicted to Pictures: this is the many faces of me.

1. Use one of the Mama Razzi, by Bo Bunny, patterned papers from your September Kit, for the background piece.

2. Cut out a 6 x7 1/2 piece of patterned paper (Mama Razzi line). Distress the edges and ink them in black. I have a few tears in the paper as well. Adhere that piece to your background paper.

3. Add your film strip frames to the striped paper. Mine are about
5 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches. You can use a die cutting machine to cut yours out. I used my Silhouette or make your own. I used Bazzill Basic cardstock from the kit for the film strip frames.

4. Add your pictures to the frames and ink the edges. Adhere the film strip frames to your striped paper by popping them up with pop dots.

5. Cut a flourish out using the Mama Razzi paper. Once again, I used my Slihouette, but you can use whatever you want to create your flourish. Adhere the flourish next to the film stip frames using pop dots.

6. Add the "addicted to pictures" and "the faces of me" stickers from your kit, to the corners of your striped paper. Pop them up as well. Then add the metal clip and brad to the corner of the "addicted to pictures " sticker.

7. Finish your title with the American Crafts chipboard letters. Then add your journaling strips under the striped paper.

Life's Been Good to me...So Far!!! by Audrey Yeager

 

1. Take the “Profit/Path” double sided cardstock and the Buttercup Cs and cut in half.  Use the buttercup one on the bottom, and the grayish side of the other on top.  Tape the seam on the back with heavy tape. Mist the grey side with some blue mist.
2. Take the orangey BoBunny paper and cut two strips 2”x12”.  Tear one long end of each.  Repeat with a strip of light blue 3”x12” and dark blue 3”x12”.
3. Cut a 10” circle out of the brown BoBunny paper and stitch around the edges.  Cut about ¾ of the circle off for the left page, and the bottom half for the right page. Glue the bottom half of the circle on the right page, slightly overlapping the left page.
4. Layer the colored paper, orange on the bottom, then dark blue then light blue, covering the seams of your cardstock.
5. Add the large part of the circle to the left page.
6. Use a die cutting machine to cut palm trees from blue BoBunny paper and from black cardstock.  Arrange the trees on different areas of your page.
7. Use the chipboard circles in the kit, spray with a copper mist.  Add the different metal copper elements to your chipboard circles and place your circles in a visual triangle on the page.
    
    
8. Add your title, journaling, and photos!

She Looks Up To You by Audrey Yeager

 

 

 

1. On the green background paper, cut out all the little flowers with an exacto knife (SAVE THEM!).  Using the red, light blue, and striped paper, add some small scraps to the back of the page behind your cut out flowers.  Doodle a flower center with a white pen.
2. Use a small flower punch to cut out red flowers. Cut out some white flowers from the blue and white flower paper. Use the green flowers you cut out, your red flowers, the blue flowers included in the kit, and the white flowers.  Arrange on the lower half of your page.  If desired, use a sewing machine and stitch some stems in white thread.
3. Use the large scalloped chipboard circle shape, trace it onto the blue paper 2 times.  Then trace the center circle onto the brown paper two times.  Use one blue scalloped circle and cover the chipboard.  Put the brown circle behind it. Add to top of page and trim to desired size.  Add title. Stitch around the chipboard edges.
4. Use an extra piece of chipboard and mount the other brown circle onto the chipboard.  Place this circle on top of your other blue scalloped shape.  You may want to ink all the edges before you glue.  Stitch around the outside edges. This is your journaling area.
5. Cut a strip of striped paper 3.5” x 8 inches and a red polka dot piece 2.5” x 4”.  Layer the red dot behind the strip as shown.
6. Mount your photo on white cardstock and position on page.  Stitch around the outside edge with a machine.

 

"Happy Birthday" card by Amanda Winchester

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict September 2010 kit, swirl stamp, versamark ink, pink ink, embossing powder, recycled corrugated cardboard, pink stickles, butterfly punches, bling swirls and pink pearls, pink ribbon 

2. Take the Scenic Route scalloped chipboard circle and cover with pink ink and let dry. Stamp with a swirl stamp with versamark ink and emboss swirls. 

3. Attach corrugated cardboard to the back of the circle so that it covers the centre. 

4. Take the Happy Birthday playing card and pop the circle. Attach the card to the middle of the circle on a slight angle and place the circle with a pop dot. 

5. Adhere blue prima flowers all around the edge circle. Place stickles in the centre of each one. 

6. Punch butterflies from vanilla cardstock. Adhere large butterfly to the upper right 'corner' and two smaller butterflies to the lower left hand corner. Attach pink pearls to the centres of the butterflies. Attach bling crystal swirls to the bottoms of the butterflies. 

7. Trace the entire scalloped circle on to vanilla cardstock. Cut out and use as the inside of the card. 

8. Punch a hole in both the chipboard circle and the traced cardstock circle. Attach together with pink ribbon.

"Explore" by Amanda Winchester

 

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict September 2010 kit, 1 vertical 4x6 photo, black journaling pen, adhesive 

2. Take the Bo Bunny Mama-razzi 12x12 "Shutter" sheet and tear it down the middle so that you have a 6x12 page with the torn edge on the left. 

3. Adhere your picture close the the left hand torn edge and about 2 inches down from the top. 

4. Use the Bo Bunny Mama-razzi border stickers and adhere one to the bottom edge of the picture and a piece of one along the upper left hand side of the picture. 

5. Adhere a journaling sticker to the bottom left hand corner of the picture and adhere your title with the blue Thickers vertically down the right hand side of the picture. Journal on your journaling sticker with your black pen. 

6. Place photo turns to the upper right hand corner of the journaling sticker and to the border sticker along the left hand side of the photo. 

7. Mat a Mama-razzi sticker on vanilla cardstock and adhere on an angle to the bottom right hand corner of the layout. 

8. Place a rubon above the picture to left and a 'quailty time' sticker above that.

Brugklas (first form) by Monique Liedtke

This month I’m going to explain to you how I created my “Brugklas” (= first form) layout using the Bo Bunny Mama-Razzi line.

1. Gather your supplies: September 2010 Crop Addict Monthly Kit, September 2010 Crop Addict Monthly Kit Option, two 3,5” x 5” (b/w) photos, one 4” x 3” (color) photo, a 4”x3” frame, a border punch, black journaling pen, adhesives (including foam adhesive) and your sewing machine!

2. Use the sheet of Mama-Razzi “Slides” as your base.

3. Spray ink your page with some brown spray ink.

4. Mat your two b/w photos onto one piece of Mama-Razzi “Film”, using the brown side.

5. Trim one strip (7,5”x1,5”) of the Mama-Razzi “Stripe” and use your border punch on one of the long sides.

6. Adhere the strip of paper to your base as follows: 7,5” from the top and 2,5” from the sides. The punched side should be on the bottom.

7. Next Place your b/w matted photos on top of the strip of paper but leave the punched side visible.

8. For the next part you need your sewing machine. Using some brown thread you sew around your b/w matted photos twice (sew over the strip of striped paper).

9. Now get your brown colored cardstock and cut out a nice shape in the middle (I used one of my Technique Tuesday frames).

10. Adhere this cardstock over your colored photo and add some faux stitching to the edge of the cardstock.

11. Adhere colored photo on the bottom of the two b/w photos overlapping about 0,75” using double sided foam tape.

12. Add title on the left and right side of your colored photo, using the Mama-Razzi cardstock stickers.

13. Add handwritten journaling on the left and right side of the photos.

14. Adhere rubon above your b/w photos in the centre of your page.

15. Adhere metal photo corners to left and right of the corners of your b/w photos.

16. Adhere metal brad in the top left corner of your left b/w photo and a metal brad in the top right corner of your right b/w photo.

September 20th-27th Weekly Challenge

For this week I have an easy challenge for you: create a birthday card (and preferably with a different shape - yes again!! let me see those shapes!!)!

Here's what I created for you:

 
  
A circular "happy birthday" card as I'm sure these will always come in handy! I found this the perfect opportunity to use up the scraps from my September 2010 Monthly Kit. The papers are from Dream Street, which are so colorful and "happy"... just perfect for the card I had in mind!

“Bite Me.” by Megan Smith

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict September 2010 kit, one 4½” x 3” photo, black cardstock, kraft cardstock, white cardstock, scrap of coordinating ribbon, coordinating paint, coordinating ink, coordinating glitter glue, crackle medium, black journaling marker, white gel pen and adhesives.
2. Choose five different patterns of paper to use from the Mamarazzi collection, making sure at least one of them has a relatively solid background.
3. Assemble your title circle & small chipboard circle: Take the 3½” diameter chipboard ring and paint it. Let dry then add crackle medium. Let dry then add ink to distress. Take the small naked chipboard circle and do the same to it – paint, crackle, ink. Cut a circle slightly larger than 3½” in diameter from the paper with the relatively solid background. Adhere to the back of your large chipboard ring. Set both pieces aside.
4. Create your layout base: Use the sheet of buttercup cardstock as your layout base. Next, cut a 5” x 5” square from each of the four remaining patterned papers. Decide which square will be in the lower left and use an eyelet to attach one of the metal clasps to the lower left corner of this square. Next, adhere the squares in a square grid to the background cardstock, leaving a ¾” margin around the edge of the layout and a ½” margin between each square. Use the black marker to draw a thin black border around the margin of your layout, ½” in from the edge.
5. Assemble your photo mat: Trim the kraft cardstock to 5¼” x 9¼” and the black cardstock to 5” x 9”. Adhere the black cardstock to the center of the kraft cardstock. Adhere your photo so it is ¼” from each side edge and the top edge of the black cardstock. Adhere this matted block to your layout background so it is 1-1/8” from the top and 2” from the left side of your layout. Add a border sticker to the left side of the block so it is flush against the black cardstock edge.
6. Finish your title circle: Adhere the already assembled title circle to the layout so it is 2¼” from the right side and 2-3/8” from the bottom of your layout. Using the Thickers, add your title to the center of the circle. Add a small rub-on to one of the letters. Use your white gel pen to add a date below your title. Adhere three Prima flowers to the upper right of the chipboard circle and dot the center of each flower with glitter glue.
7. Add your journaling: Trim the white cardstock into ½” wide journaling strips. Add your journaling to the strips using the black marker. Adhere the strips at various angles to the blank space in the black cardstock. Use foam adhesive if desired for added dimension.
8. Add embellishing: Punch a 1½” circle from the same patterned paper used for your title circle. Group this circle near the upper left corner of your photo with small chipboard circle you painted earlier, one small circle sticker and a small Prima flower. Dot the flower with glitter glue and add a small circle project sticker to the center of the chipboard circle. Next, knot the ribbon scrap to the metal clasp in the lower left of your layout. Add a rub-on sentiment to the right of the metal clasp.

“2009” by Megan Smith

 

1. Gather your supplies: Crop Addict September 2010 kit, five 3” x 3½” photos (some vertical & some horizontal), cardstock, three colors of coordinating embroidery floss, corner rounder punch, die-cutting machine (or star templates) and adhesives.
2. Use the Profit/Path dark green side as your base. 
3. Trim the dark red with white polka dot Dream Street paper to 10½” x 10½”. Round the corners with the corner rounder punch and adhere this sheet of paper directly to the center of the cardstock, leaving a ¾” margin of cardstock showing around the edge of the layout.
4. Cut five 3¼” x 3¾” pieces from the white cardstock and mount your photos onto them, giving you 1/8” mat around each photo. Group and adhere your photos towards the left of your layout in whatever arrangement works best for you. It’s okay if some of the photos overlap.
5. Using you die-cutting machine (or star templates) cut one large star from the Dream Street striped paper, a medium star from the star-patterned Dream Street Paper and three small stars from the blue flowered patterned Dream Street paper.
6. Adhere the large striped star towards the lower right corner of your layout and adhere the medium star to the upper right and slightly overlapping the large star. If your medium star is hanging off the edge of your layout, trim off the part hanging off.
7. Adhere the three small blue stars to your layout – one toward the upper right of your layout, one somewhere in the middle of your photo grouping and the last towards the bottom center of your layout, slightly overlapping one of your photos.
8. Make three stars to the right of your layout (the large, the medium, and farthest to the right small) “hang” from the top of your layout by stitching a line from the top of the star to the top of your layout using the embroidery floss. Use different color floss for each star.
9. Attach one clasp using a mini brad to the top of your layout, centered directly above the embroidered line that attaches to the largest star. Tie an embroidery floss bow to the clasp.
10. Place a circle project sticker in the center of each of the three small stars.
11. Using your Thickers and/or rub-on sentiments, place your title in the middle of the large star.
