Crop Addict Design Team for July 2010 - January 2011

"Bday BBQ" by Megan Smith

 

1.     Gather your supplies: July 2010 Crop Addict Kit, July 2010 Crop Addict Kit Option, and 8” x 6” collage of photos (pre-print as a single block with small white margins between each photo), black ink, black slick writer, black journaling pen, white embroidery floss and adhesives.

2.     Use the sheet of orange cardstock as your base.

3.     Adhere the photo collage block flush against the right side of your layout and 1” from the top edge of your layout. Add a rub-on sentiment to one of the photos. Ink the edges of one die-cut and adhere it to a negative (a blank) portion of your photo collage using foam adhesive. (If your die-cut is tag-shaped, string a piece of sheer white ribbon through the tag hole.)

4.     Trim two strips from the yellow Pink Paislee paper – one strip is 8” x ¾” and the second strip is 8” x ½”. Adhere the ¾” thick strip directly above your photo collage and the ½” thick strip directly below your photo collage.

5.     Trim a 4” x 6” piece from the striped Pink Paislee paper and adhere it directly to the left of the photo collage so its flush against the left side of the layout and 1” from the top edge of your layout.

6.     Cut five pieces of paper from the various Pink Paislee papers as follows: a 1¼” x 4½” piece of the orange & white decorative pattern, a 1” x 4½” piece of the striped, a 1¾” x 4½” piece of the light blue & white decorative pattern, a 1¼” x 4½” piece of the red, and a 2¾” x 4½” piece of the notebook pattern. Adhere these pieces side-by-side and flush against each other, directly below the yellow border below your photo collage. The bottom edge of these pieces of paper should be flush against the bottom of your layout as well and the far right piece will be flush against the right side of your layout. From right to left, the pieces should be in the following order: orange & white decorative pattern, striped, light blue & white decorative pattern, red and notebook.

7.     Stitch a straight white line of embroidery floss along each yellow border. Add a length of green & white ribbon along the seam between the bottom yellow border and the blocks of other patterned paper.

8.     Add an orange Pink Paislee flip note to the upper left corner of the large piece of striped patterned paper so the left side of the flip note overlaps the left edge of layout. Trim off the part of the flip note that hangs off the edge of your layout. Add two of the chipboard rings to the upper left of the flip note, placing the smaller ring in the center of the larger ring.

9.     Add your journaling to the piece of notebook patterned paper using your black journaling pen.

10. Outline your chipboard title alphas with your black slick writer. Adhere your title to the upper part of your side-by-side blocks of patterned paper. Place your first letter within the red block.

11. Stamp several images on the blue paper, cut them out and use them to embellish your title.

12. Ink the edges of a family/home-themed die-cut and adhere it towards the bottom right of your layout.

13. Adhere the blue pleated Pink Paislee ribbon vertically along the left edge of your photo collage and the notebook-patterned paper. 

"Sew Sweet Cards" by Megan Smith

 

1.     Gather your supplies: 2010 June Crop Addict Kit, 2010 June Crop Addict Kit Option, two 5½” x 4¼” blank folded cardstock cards, mini alpha stickers, white embroidery floss, dark brown embroidery floss, 3” scalloped circle punch and various adhesives.

2.     Paint three of the sewing-themed chipboard pieces (a spool, a needle & a sewing machine) with orange paint. Set aside to dry.

3.     Create your first card:

a.     Adhere a 5½” x 2” piece of the 7 Gypsies Announce (newsprint-pattern) paper to the top of the card. Below that piece, adhere a 5½” x ¾” piece of the 7 Gypsies FleurDeLes (blue) paper. Below that piece and flush against the bottom of the card, adhere a 5½” x 1½” piece of the 7 Gypsies Decoration (orange) paper.

b.     Use your scallop punch to punch a scalloped circle from the Blank Check Bling cardstock. Stitch a white embroidery floss border around the edge of the scalloped circle. Punch two small holes in the scalloped circle, one on each side near the edge. Thread a length of the beige silk ribbon through the holes.

c.      Adhere your circle towards the right side of the card. Adhere the lengths of ribbon stretching horizontally from the scalloped circle towards the edges of the card. Trim the excess ribbon that hangs off the edges of the card.

d.     Embellish the scalloped circle with your card greeting created from the mini alpha sticker, and the painted chipboard spool and needle.

4.     Create your second card:

a.     Adhere a 2¾” x 4¼” piece of the Blank Check Bling cardstock to the left side of the card. Directly to the right of that piece of cardstock, adhere a 1¼” x 4¼” piece of the 7 Gypsies Eciture (green) paper. Next to this piece of paper and flush against the right side of the card, adhere a 1½” x 4¼” piece of the Decoration (orange) paper.

b.     Adhere a 2¾” x ¾” piece of the 7 Gypsies FleurDeLes (blue) so its flush against the right side of the card and ¾” from the bottom of the card. Add your card sentiment to this strip of paper using your mini alpha stickers.

c.      Add a length of decorative blue felt to the bling cardstock. Embellish this felt with a couple of the 7 Gypsies brads.

d.     Using the brown embroidery floss, stitch a straight border along the right side of the bling cardstock.

e.     Adhere the painted chipboard sewing machine toward the upper left of your card sentiment. 

"Father's Day" by Megan Smith

 

1.     Gather your supplies: June 2010 Crop Addict Kit, eleven photos (two 4” x 6”, two 6” x 4”, seven 3” x 2”), two sheets brown cardstock, two sheets navy blue cardstock, navy blue marker, white paint, crackle medium, light brown chalk ink, brown ink, date stamp, navy blue embroidery floss, zig-zag border punch, die-cutting machine and adhesives.

2.     Use the two sheets of brown cardstock as your base. Tape them together by placing tape along the center seam on the backside in order to keep the two sides of the spread together while you are working.

3.     Take two of the chipboard buttons and paint them white. Once dry, add a layer of crackle medium. Once dry, swipe with the brown chalk ink to give definition to the crackle. Add navy blue embroidery floss to the buttonholes. Set aside.

4.     Trim each sheet of navy blue cardstock to 8-3/8” x 6¼”. Mount the two vertical 4” x 6” photos on one of these trimmed sheets, side by side and leaving a 1/8” margin between them and all the way around the edges of the photos. Mount the two horizontal 6” x 4” photos on the second of these trimmed sheets, side by side and leaving a 1/8” margin between them and all the way around the edges of the photos. Set aside.

5.     Trim two 2” x 12” pieces from the Trophy Husband paper. Adhere these pieces of paper along the top of your layout to create a wide top border running the length of the layout. Cut two ¾” x 12” strips from the Blank Check Bling cardstock and punch a zig-zag border along one edge of each strip. Adhere one strip below the Trophy Husband paper, one on each side of the layout so the straight edge of each strip is flush against the Trophy Husband paper. From the scraps of navy blue cardstock, trim two ¼” x 12” strips and adhere one strip over the seams between the Trophy Husband paper and the Blank Check Bling cardstock.

6.     Using your die-cutting machine, cut five circles of various sizes from the different Creative Imaginations Old Guy papers. Adhere two different patterned circles, overlapping each other slightly, towards the right side of your layout. Trim any paper hanging over the edge of your layout. Adhere three different patterned circles in a group, overlapping each other, towards the lower center part of the left side of your layout.

7.     Adhere the horizontal 6” x 4” mounted photos so the photo mat is 5/8” from the top of your layout and 1-1/8” from the left of your layout. Adhere the vertical 4” x 6” mounted photos so the photo mat is 3” from the top of your layout and 2-5/8” from the right of your layout.

8.     Adhere three of the 3” x 2” photos side-by-side in photo strip fashion so that the far left photo is flush with the left side of your layout and the bottom edges of the photos are 7/8” from the bottom of your layout. Adhere the remaining four 3” x 2” photos side-by-side in photo strip fashion so that the far right photo is flush with the right side of your layout and the bottom edges of the photos are ¼” from the bottom of your layout.

9.     Add rub-on or sticker sentiments to some of the photos. Add a rub-on border to the far right focal photo.

10. Using your die-cutting machine, cut your title out of the Blank Check Bling cardstock. Outline each letter with your navy blue marker. Adhere your title to the right of the larger focal photos on the left page.

11. Embellish the left side of your page with a chipboard sentiment, the two painted chipboard buttons and a piece of star felt place around the cluster of circles and your title.

12. Embellish the right side of your layout by placing one fussy-cut beer label and piece of star felt towards the upper left corner of your mounted focal photos, and a second fussy-cut beer label and piece of star felt towards the lower right corner of your mounted focal photos. Add a metal charm to the top section of the rub-on border along the right side of the right focal photo. Stamp your date along the zig-zag border near the star felt.

1. Cut 4”x5-1/2” piece of Decoration, 2”x4” piece of Announce, ink edges.
2. Tear 3”x2-1/2” piece of Fleur de Lys, ink edges.
3. Adhere Announce and Fleur de Lys pieces to Decoration piece.
4. Adhere letter stickers to chipboard label holder. Thread ribbon through  holes of chipboard label holder.
5. Adhere chipboard label holder to card, wrap ribbon around edges and adhere to back.
6. Adhere this completed piece to a card base.

1. Cut 8-1/4” x 12” piece of Streusel. Ink edges and adhere to layout.

2. Cut 5-3/4” x 12” pieces of Ecriture. Tear top edge. Ink edges and adhere to layout.

3. Cut 3”x5-1/2” tag (I used a Coluzzle template, but you can trace another tag you have or just wing it) from Orchestra. Cut a slightly smaller tag from Cream Puff and tear edge. Cut another slightly smaller tag from Orchestra and tear edge. Layer and adhere the tags together. Adhere letter stickers for title.

4. Adhere photo to layout. Make photo corner from solid satin ribbon.

5. Adhere tag to layout. Make flower from solid satin ribbon, adhere to layout and add flower sticker to center. Adhere chipboard flourish.
