But even the best laid plans can go awry. And why mileage running is fun and exciting.
Trying to get that last final push to 2 million miles today and I have another SANLAXORD mileage run on American Airlines.
I was scheduled to fly SANLAX departing at 6:20am, but I missed my flight. Never have I ever missed a flight until this morning. I think I missed it by "that much" as Maxwell Smart would say - they had just taken away the ramp so it was mere minutes. One can only drive so fast from North County to SAN.
I was put on standby for SANLAX departing at 7:45am. At 7:15am when the flight was to board, I approached the Gate Agent, who recognized my name from flight 3081. Despite missing the flight, or should I say boarding of the flight, I didn't miss it since the plane was still sitting on the tarmac due to heavy fog in LAX.
Boarded flight 3084, was on for all of 2 minutes when the GA came back and escorted me off the plane. Yikes. But only so that he could put me on yet another flight since he knew I had my return from ORD this afternoon. Flight 3081 was still sitting on the tarmac as I walked by. That fog in LAX is still hanging heavy.
"Relaxing" in the Admirals Club waiting for my third flight of the day. Confirmed with AA Platinum desk that I will get original mileage credit for my SANLAXORD portion.
If I can still make my interview in ORD, I'll be golden. :)
